• Question: what job do you do like designing or construction?

      I prefer designing. I was never as good at practical work at school or Uni!

      I don’t actually do either of those things. We had an electronics engineer and mechanical engineer to design the boards and the box/ sensors., but the design is basically finished and approved now. As for constructing, we tend to hire a professional company to actually put together all the electronic pieces (some of them are so tiny your can barely pick them up, so you need special equipment and years of experience to do so).
      What I actually do is more inspecting the individual components it is made of before it is built, testing of the instrument once it is built, and writing programs to talk to the instrument and get the information from it.

    I would say I like both. Being able to design something correctly relies on you knowing how something is built. As such if you have the chance to do some practical engineering (building a bike, go-kart) then it will give you some great skills for an eventual career in engineering.
