I went to University and studied Aero-Mechanical Engineering for 4 years. Then I started a PhD in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering for another 3 and a half years. It was a long time to be at University!

I went to University for 4 years and did a Masters in Aerospace Engineering. I really enjoyed this degree but it’s focus was on aviation and I wanted to move into the space sector. So I did an additional 1 year masters in Astronautics and Space Engineering. This gave me space specific skills that were extremely useful in my first job.

I completed two 6-month civil engineering internships during the last two years of my bachelor’s degree.

I interviewed for the internship program one year before I graduated high school. I didn’t expect to get in and wasn’t even sure if I wanted to do engineering! Worst case scenario I wasted a few hours on an application and interview.

Four years later I went to work for an engineering company for six months, then again for another company one year after that. The real-world experience I gained helped me stand out from all the other engineering graduates.
