Hi Emily, I was looking for a job online and found the advert for this job. I had never done engineering before but I had done lots of projects during my physics degree that I could apply to this roll.

I got into engineering because it seemed like a good mix of math, science, and problem solving. In high school I enjoyed this type of work so I thought I’d try out civil engineering at a college. After a few years, I was still having fun so I transferred to a university.

At the university I was exposed to a lot of other types of engineering. Eventually I started taking satellite positioning and navigation courses. That interest got me into a masters degree program and now my PhD!
