      Maybe Margaret Hamilton, who first coined the term ‘software engineer’ and led the team of programmers who created the computer software that took the first astronauts to the moon!

      Gene Kranz, he was the spacecraft operations lead for the early NASA missions; Mercury, Gemini, Apollo, and the Shuttle. He pretty much wrote the book on how ground operators should work

      Dorothy Vaughan (you can watch her in the movie Hidden Figures). She was a mathematician at NASA in the 1940’s. She was termed a ‘human computer’ and had to overcome real adversity in her job.

      Thomas Edison. He was an inventor/engineer and his inventions helped industrialize the USA! Also, he was a smart business man, with over 1,000 US patents in his name.
