      I’ve not seen the film but virtual reality is a really hot topic and i’m sure that the engineers and programmers involved with advancing this technology are just as excited and trying hard to make this happen! Technology can advance really fast so don’t be surprised if it does (apparently the world wide web was only invented 30 years ago – and look how far that has come in this time :O )

      I know engineering and construction companies are now starting to use “augmented” reality. The idea is to use lasers to scan whatever you’re building and create a digital 3D model. Then you combine that model with indoor positioning on a device with a screen.

      Imagine when someone needs to make a hole in a completed wall to install ventilation pipes or new electric wiring (these things happen). Now you can point your tablet-like device at the wall and augment reality (using the 3D model) to see where where it’s safe to make the hole!
